Second Cutting

A documentary podcast exploring the systems that connect land, animals, food, and people.

Media Field Reporting Documentary

Purpose

Listen deeper into the landscape.

The name comes from haymaking. The second cutting of hay is often richer and more complex than the first. In the same way, these conversations look past the surface of agriculture and ask deeper questions about biology, stewardship, food systems, and the relationship between people and the land they depend on.

Field Record

The project centers on conversations with veterinarian and rancher Dr. Shannon Gonsoulin and others whose work sits at the intersection of ecology, food systems, and land stewardship in South Louisiana. Together they form a living record of how knowledge moves through land and community.

Role In The System

Within the Mimicorp ecosystem, Second Cutting functions as both storytelling engine and field journal, documenting the ideas and observations that emerge from real places.
